Currently I am the CEO of DataStax, the company that delivers Apache Cassandra in a database platform purpose-built for the new world of web, mobile, and IOT applications.  This is the latest stop in a career that started in 1992 as a developer and DBA, and has would through an intermingled journey of software and business.  I also serve as a board member for Tableau Software, Inc.  (NYSE: DATA).

I am a proud graduate of the University of Louisville’s Speed School of Engineering, where I was also fortunate enough to be a four-year letterman as a football player (offensive lineman, of course… the most nobel of all positions on the field!)  For the first 13 years of my career, I also coached high school football, which I miss very much (someday… someday…)   Perhaps knowing my split-personality past will help explain my many mixed analogies of sports and technology!
